Who We Are

Ta To is an international network of filmmakers based in America and Southeast Asia. Our name, Ta To, means "wide eyes" in Thai, and expresses how as an organization we use film literally to open the eyes of children, parents, and people around the world to' human trafficking.

What We Do

Ta To allows people who have been trafficked to tell their stories through film. Ta To trains and
equips local volunteers to help victims in their own commtmities speak out about what happened
to them, and then distributes DVDs of their edited interviews across northern Thailand, Burma
and Laos. Ta To also makes its videos available on DVD and online at www.tatonetworkorg.

History

Ta To was formed in the summer of 2007 in Mae Sai, Thailand. Five students - one Thai, one
Lao, one Burmese, and two American - met at an activist training run by Global PACT (Global
Partnerships for Activism and Cross-cultural Training, www.globalpact.org).

After an intense month of working together despite cultural and language barriers, the team
formed Ta To and recruited the first filmmakers to its international network. In June 2007, Ta To
held its first press conference and raised great interest in the Thai media.

Today, Ta To has a three-minute demo tape in Thai, is completing a subtitled version of the
demo and a longer piece on Ta To itself, and is preparing a business plan.
